Notes on Liralen's visit in October 2010

Notes

Endgame Minicon Important Street Closure/Parking information

ChrisH writes: Pacific Coast Brewery is closing down all the streets right in front of the store. This will also affect the free parking we are used to having. This fair will run from noon to 7pm.and close off Washington from 10th to 8th.

I recommend people use the lot directly behind Mexicali Rose on 8th and Clay. it costs $7 and will last the full length of the MiniCon. (The machine takes cash, and credit cards) I park my car there almost every day, and like it. The real win is that you won't have to move your car for the evening slot.

Possibilities

  • Oakland
    • Peony Pacific Renaissance Plaza, Suite 288, 388 9th Street, Oakland, CA 94607 (510-286-8866) Chris H says "Sadly, only passing reviews now a days. It would be my second choice though, if you don't wanna bart over the bay. (It might be worth it just to walk through the Ferry Building too.)"
    • Shan Dong, 328 10th St, Oakland. 510-839-2299 - Mon closed, Tue-Thu,Sun 10am-9:30pm, Fri-Sat 10am-10pm. Northern chinese breakfast place near Endgame. Ping's review: "It was very home-style which was nice and pretty good. We had the salty soy soup, the chive turnovers, the special regional dumplings, the beef sandwiches and the pigs ears which Ryan was daring enough to try. Their selection is not huge and they were missing some things such as yo tiao (the fried crullers), scallion pancakes and the other bread products that I expect on a northern breakfast menu. However, "north" is a big word, they are a small family restaurant and my knowledge of chinese regional food is very limited so what we had may have been 100% authentic to their region and those other things are from another region in the north."
  • San Jose
  • San Francisco
    • Yank Sing Chris H says of Rincon Center "It is probably one of the best Dim Sum places period, and worth the extra travel."
      • Rincon Center, 101 Spear St, San Francisco, CA (415-781-1111) M-F 11-3 SaSu 10-4 (Take BART to Embarcadero station).
      • 49 Stevenson St, San Francisco, CA (415-541-4949) (BART to Montgomery Station, walk a block down 2nd, L on Stevenson)
